The Domaine de la Baudrière


The Domaine de la Baudrière is a property of 70ha, in the heart of secret Normandy, within the borders of the departments of the Eure, the Orne and the Calvados. Its principal activities are the breeding of bovines, the production of cereals and the production of apples and pears.

The Field is managed today by Patrick Gagneur, young farmer infatuated of biological agriculture since 1998; he followed the endeavours of his parents and grand parents.

The Field is divided into thirteen hectares of orchard high-stem and five hectares of orchard low-stem, which produce according to the year from 80 up to 130 tons of apples of 25 different varieties. The early varieties give soft or medium dry cider, the late ones of the raw cider. The Field could preserve 35 pear trees of more than 180 years old. The biological breeding of bovines and the production of cereals share the remaining 52 hectares.

The apple trees and pear trees grown in symbiosis with the environment. The chemical manures and treatments are proscribed there.

In the event of diseases, or of the presences of insects being able to cause significant damage, field has recourse to the old methods known as natural containing pulps of Bordeaux or of liquid manures of nettles.
